TALI trainer Hilary Cate shows Tibetan teachers how to teach math with the Montessori system.
Since 2009, TALI conducts early-childhood teacher training workshops on a yearly basis in the cities of Xining and Lhasa. These workshops welcome Han, Hui and Tibetan teachers teaching in Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and the Tibet Autonomous Region. As kindergarten education is gaining ground in rural areas in the People's Republic of China, TALI's workshops provide these teachers with new teaching techniques and materials in Chinese and Tibetan languages to help them develop their kindergarten curricula. Highly experienced Montessori teachers and consultants from the United States travel to Xining and Lhasa to conduct these workshops.
TALI trainer Jessica Elliott teaches Qinghai-based teachers how to make Montessori-inspired materials to teach geography.
A group of TALI volunteers, under the guidance of Montessori-trained teachers, designed the first set of Montessori Tibetan-language classroom activities to teach a variety of subjects at kindergarten level.
SUPPORT FOR SCHOOLS AND LIBRAIES
Every year TALI sends books, educational materials, sport goods, and art supplies to schools, kindergarten centers, and libraries in Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan and Tibet Autonomous Region.
